The Arizona Master Naturalist Association (AZMN) is a statewide training and certification program designed to create a corps of volunteers educated to give back volunteer service to partnering organizations that utilize volunteers in outreach programming. AZMN provides education, outreach and interpretive services to a variety of stakeholders including education entities, state and city government agencies, as well as private citizen groups.
Observing phenology, or plant and animal life cycle events, through Nature's Notebook citizen science program offers place-based, hands-on learning opportunities, provides a collaborative platform for site-based educators, and promotes cross-subject engagement while addressing standards of learning. Our formal, informal, and non-formal education resources can be used to help students of all ages plug into real-world scientific research questions addressed by many researchers, natural resource, land manager and educational groups.
Reid Park Zoo’s mission is “to encourage commitment to the conservation of biological diversity and to provide educational and fun experiences for visitors of all ages.”
The Zoo, founded in 1965 with a collection of birds, prairie dogs, farm animals, and a few squirrel monkeys, has expanded to a 24-acre campus that houses hundreds of animals in naturalistic exhibits and annually hosts over 600,000 visitors. Reid Park Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
Discover the magic of birds with us! Audubon AZ is the state office of National Audubon and is housed at the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center in South Phoenix. The free-admission center offers standards-aligned educational programs for all ages and organizes monthly conservation projects that benefit birds and the community.
