Growing up with a love for earth science and nature, a future in the environmental field was an easy choice for Katie Rodriguez. In her early days as an environmental advocate, Katie focused on environmental education and outreach at Estrella Mountain Community College as a sustainability intern. There, she focused on public speaking about environmental topics, offering sustainable events for students, and the implementation of a campus wide recycling program. Katie continued her education at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ and was an active member in environmental clubs and campaigns on campus. In addition to her time spent in clubs at Northern Arizona University, Katie was involved with Northern Arizona University’s Green NAU program, where she was an energy intern that focused on implementing programs that encouraged students to conserve energy on campus. She also worked with the U.S. Forest Service during her time at NAU on projects concerning outdoor safety in the Coconino National Forest, forest health, and environmental policy.
Today, Katie has a B.S. in Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in Environmental Management and Policy. She currently is employed at an environmental corporation, Trileaf, as an Environmental Scientist.
